2009 Chardonnay $112 per half dozen, $216 per dozen |
Barrel fermented and made to improve with bottle age
Our 2008 has a buttery/creamy texture and shows stone fruit and subtle oak on the nose. The palate is still fresh and lively with a long citressy finish. The wine is 100 per cent barrel fermented and will reward further bottle age.
The 2000 and 2004 vintages of this wine won Gold at the Mt Barker Show.
A note from one of our customers about the 2001 Chardonnay which he opened mid 2008:
“...and then, as I opened the chardonnay, the cork snapped. Not auspicious really - but despite all this, the wine was wonderful. A lovely honeyed colour, fragrant, rich-tasting and it stayed very long on the palate. It might have lasted another couple of years or more at least, I reckon...” |

"One of my favourite WA chardonnays, partially because it is released with a few years’ bottle age which shows the wine at its peak. This 2006 is now 7 years old, and is a glowing yellow / gold in the glass, clear as a bell. The fruit characters of peach and nectarine (which are not surprising, given the site’s previous use as an orchard) are giving way to developed honeyed and slightly toasty characters, and these balance each other well. There’s still a good lick of acid on the finish, and some supporting oak on the palate to give it weight, richness and a touch of dryness.
This has developed into a savoury style. I recently visited France for the first time, and a decent (and more pricy) Pouilly Fuisse reminded me starkly of this wine. However, it is not Burgundian, it is just, well, Cosham."
